Faith In Fitness: Hope Isn’t Passive – It Moves.

July 31

By Rachel Payne

Hope is more than simply wishing for better days. Hope gives us the courage to take the next step—regardless of our age, fitness level, or physical ability.

Isaiah 40:31 reminds us:

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Active aging doesn’t require moving faster than everyone else or doing what you once did. It means continuing to move forward in a way that honors the body, abilities, and life God has given you today.

Sometimes that begins with one small decision: standing up, stepping outside, walking to the end of the driveway, or moving for just a few more minutes. Each step can rebuild confidence, renew strength, and remind us that we are still capable of growing.

Faith encourages us to keep going through difficult seasons, while hope gives our movement purpose. We may need to adjust our pace, but we do not have to stop pursuing vitality, connection, and a full life.

Hope isn’t passive—it moves. Every step forward is an opportunity to embrace the life God has given us.

This Month’s Faith in Fitness Challenge

Take a 10-minute walk this week as an expression of hope. Walk outdoors, indoors, on a treadmill, or wherever you feel safe and comfortable. If walking isn’t right for your ability, choose 10 minutes of movement that works for you.

Move with gratitude. Move with purpose. And with every step, remember that hope is carrying you forward.

This month’s Faith in Fitness is coordinated by Abbe Hockaday of Abbs Muscle & Fitness and presented by Amanda Gray, Facility Lead and Certified Personal Trainer at Abbs Muscle & Fitness in Rockmart, Georgia.
