FAITH IN MOTION: Wellness, consistency, and the next faithful step

September 6

By Rachel Payne

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” -2 Corinthians 5:7

Faith is more than something we believe—it is something we live. It moves from our hearts into our choices, our habits, and the way we care for ourselves and others.

Just as physical strength develops through consistent movement, spiritual strength grows through prayer, trust, obedience, and service. These choices may feel small, especially when we cannot immediately see the results, but every faithful step draws us closer to God and prepares us for what lies ahead.

Walking by faith does not mean having the entire journey mapped out. It means trusting that God sees what we cannot and taking the next step He places before us.

Wellness: Is It Well with Your Soul?

At Abb’s Kingdom Health™, wellness means caring for the whole person—spirit, soul, and body. It begins by pausing long enough to ask an honest question: Is it well with my soul?

Tiffany Loera, who leads employee wellness for the City of Dallas and serves in a business leadership role with Abb’s, sees wellness as something that reaches into every area of life. Through programs such as the Dallas Olympics, cooking classes, meditation, heart-health education, and other initiatives, she helps people explore practical ways to support their mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

In her own life, Tiffany makes room for walks, meditation, nourishing food, and weekly meal preparation. Her advice is simple but important: pour into your own cup. Caring for yourself is not selfish; it helps equip you to care for the people God has placed around you.

“Make sure that you pour into your own cup and that it is full before you start filling other people’s cups.”

Consistency: Faithfulness Over Time

Wellness helps us recognize what needs care. Consistency helps us continue caring for it, even when progress feels slow.

Corey Gray, a certified personal trainer with Abb’s, understands what it means to begin again. After stepping away from the gym for nearly ten years, he returned, lost approximately 50 to 60 pounds, and decided to pursue personal training after working in law enforcement. His journey taught him that meaningful change rarely happens overnight.

There will be days when we want to quit. Yet those difficult days can become the very moments that strengthen us most. Long-lasting progress is often slow, but that is what makes it sustainable. Over time, the small choices begin to add up—and eventually we can see just how far God has brought us.

“Let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.”Galatians 6:9

Put Your Faith into Motion

Faith in motion is not about constantly doing more or pushing harder. Sometimes it looks like one prayer, one walk, one nourishing meal, one moment of rest, or one act of obedience—and then choosing to return to that faithful practice tomorrow.

For the next seven days, begin with two simple check-ins:

•  Wellness Check: Pause each day and ask, “Is it well with my soul?” Notice what needs care.

•  Consistency Check: Choose one faithful practice—prayer, movement, rest, service, or another healthy habit—and continue it each day.

At the end of the week, ask yourself: Where did I see God at work, and what faithful step do I want to continue?

You do not have to see the whole path before you begin. Choose one simple step and put your faith into motion today.

KEEP MOVING. KEEP TRUSTING. KEEP YOUR FAITH IN MOTION.
